Jurulatih beregu campuran Jepun, Jeremy Gan, berpandangan tidak wujud perbezaan yang terlalu ketara daripada segi budaya kejurulatihan dalam membentuk gandingan mantap.
Sejak dilantik sebagai jurulatih beregu campuran Jepun pada November 2017, sentuhan Jeremy semakin membuahkan hasil.
Ia dapat dilihat menerusi gandingan Yuta Watanabe-Arisa Higashino, yang mencipta sejarah menjadi beregu campuran Jepun pertama memenangi Kejohanan Seluruh England tahun lalu.
Watanabe-Higashino meraih gelaran Kejohanan Masters Malaysia 2019 semalam selepas mengatasi Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Sapsiree Taeattanachai 21-18, 21-18 dalam final.
Malah, pilihan utama itu turut menewaskan gandingan profesional negara, Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying, dalam saingan separuh akhir kelmarin.
"Semua pendekatan kejurulatihan adalah hampir sama, kami cuma perlu menjalin kerjasama yang erat.
"Dengan memantapkan kerjasama pasukan, maka komitmen setiap pemain juga akan tinggi, termasuk jurulatih," katanya.
Sentuhan Jeremy sebagai jurulatih mempunyai kredibiliti yang tersendiri.
Ketika bersama Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM), dia membantu Peng Soon-Liu Ying untuk muncul sebagai gandingan beregu campuran pertama negara yang meraih gelaran terbuka.
Apabila beralih ke bahagian beregu lelaki, pencapaian tertingginya sudah pastilah kejayaan merangkul pingat perak Sukan Olimpik Rio 2016 menerusi Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong.
Tumpuan Jeremy kini adalah membantu Watanabe-Higashino dalam memburu emas temasya Tokyo 2020, namun dia tetap berwaspada dengan prestasi pencabar yang lain.
"Peng Soon-Liu Ying dan Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jamie bermain dengan baik, mereka bermain bagus dalam Masters Malaysia.
"Setiap negara kini mempunyai satu pasangan beregu yang boleh memberikan cabaran.
"Setiap negara mempunyai kekuatan tersendiri.
"Cuma mereka perlu melihat tentang cara untuk menaikkan prestasi, bukannya melihat kelemahan," tambahnya.
