Karakter luar biasa perseorangan profesional negara, Goh Jin Wei, menjadi sebab kenapa dia berada dalam senarai awal skuad ke Sukan Komanwel 2022.
Meskipun pemain berusia 22 tahun itu merupakan perseorangan wanita kedua selepas S. Kisona, Jin Wei dipilih apabila mempamerkan aksi memberangsangkan setelah kembali daripada persaraan.
Juara dunia remaja dua kali itu juga pernah menghidap kesakitan di bahagian usus sehingga terpaksa melakukan pembedahan pada 2019 lalu, namun Jin Wei masih mampu memberikan cabaran terbaik di Piala Uber selepas menewaskan pemain di ranking lebih cemerlang dari Denmark, Line Christophersen.
"Jin Wei seorang pejuang dan dicadangkan beraksi dalam Sukan Komanwel," kata Pengarah Prestasi Tinggi Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM) Dr Tim Jones.
Jones turut menyatakan bahawa Sukan Komanwel bukanlah platform menimba pengalaman tetapi untuk mencapai misi dua pingat emas.
Selain itu juga, dia menjelaskan cara pemilihan awal 10 barisan pemain diwakili lima lelaki dan lima wanita.
