The Kuala Lumpur Thunder notched their second 2018 Sepak Takraw League (STL) Premier win in as many games as they overcame the Perak Bison in a thrilling encounter on Saturday.

Led by captain and feeder Azmi Kadir, the Thunder took the first set 21-14 before conceding a 15-21 second-set loss.

In the rubber set, they held off a late surge from the Perak side, who did not play on the opening day, to win 21-18.

The win allowed the Thunder to keep up with the Penang Black Panthers, who disposed of the PDRM Defenders with a 2-0 victory.

Opting to start with second team Zaim Razali, Kamal Ishak and Said Ezwan Said De, the defending champions fell behind 3-8 at one point in the first set.

Tekong star Syahir Rosdi was then brought on for Said Ezwan and played an instrumental role in turning the set, as well as the game, around for his side.

Saturday's results also saw the Black Panthers and the Thunder pull clear of the rest of the teams following the Terengganu Turtles' defeat to the ATM Guardians, while Kelantan Warriors bounced back from their opening day defeat by beating the Melaka Titans.
