Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Borussia Dortmund, Hans-Joachim Watzke, membidas budaya bola sepak Inggeris yang didakwanya sebagai memerah peminat, seperti yang dilaporkan oleh akhbar The Mirror.
Dengan kebangkitan RB Leipziq (RBL) -- sebuah pasukan yang baru meraih promosi dari divisyen bawah -- yang kini menghuni tangga kedua Bundesliga dengan rekod tanpa kalah, beliau mula mempersoalkan struktur dan hierarki dalam bola sepak Jerman.
Watzke terus mengkritik hebat RBL yang disokong oleh dana Red Bull, kononnya kelab itu melanggar peraturan-peraturan tertentu di atas usaha mereka layak ke peringkat tinggi.
RBL dianggap kelab paling dibenci di Jerman selepas ditubuhkan pada 2009 oleh pemilik syarikat itu, Dietrich Mateschitz.
Mateschitz menjadi individu penting dalam membina reputasi RBL dengan menjenamakan semula kelab SSV Markranstadt yang pada masa itu berjuang dalam divisyen lima.
Dan ketika melontarkan pendapatnya mengenai pemansuhan potensi peraturan pemilikan kelab yang dikenali sebagai '50+1', Watzke secara lantang tidak bersetuju dengan saranan itu kerana beliau enggan melihat 'budaya Inggeris' yang gemar mengeksploitasi peminat.
"Pelabur di Dortmund akan segera melihat 15,000 tempat duduk penonton boleh ditambah kepada 28,000. Ini akan menjana pendapatan sebanyak beberapa juta lagi.
"Saya tidak mahukannya. Saya tidak mahu ada suasana Inggeris di mana peminat diperah."
