Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Melaka United, Datuk Seri Justin Lim, berkata sasaran satu piala yang ditetapkan pasukan itu membuatkan mereka terpaksa menamatkan khidmat bekas ketua jurulatih, Zainal Abidin Hassan.
Justin turut optimis pengendali baru dari Bosnia Herzegovina, Risto Vidakovic, mampu menghadirkan sekurang-kurangnya satu piala buat pasukan Hang Tuah itu.
Dalam satu temu bual bersama wartawan Nadi Arena, Fadhirul Shuhaimi, dia berkata: "Yang pertama, saya mahu berterima kasih kepada Zainal atas usaha yang telah dicurahkannya buat Melaka United sepanjang tiga tahun ini.
"Kami pada awalnya menyenaraikan Zainal dalam perancangan kami tetapi selepas beberapa pertimbangan, saya telah membuat keputusan bahawa kami memerlukan perubahan drastik untuk mencuba membawa pulang beberapa piala buat Melaka United.
"Itulah sebabnya kami terpaksa memilih haluan berbeza dengan Zainal tetapi saya mendoakan yang terbaik buat masa depannya dan sekiranya ada perkara yang boleh kami bantunya pada masa akan datang, kami masih boleh berbincang kerana kami masih mempunyai hubungan yang baik dengannya."
Mengenai pemilihan Vidakovic, Justin menambah: "Saya tidak mahu membandingkan mereka berdua tetapi bagi saya, sudah tiga tahun Melaka United tidak dapat memenangi sebarang piala dan seperti yang anda tahu, Risto sebelum ini berada di Filipina dan dia telah memenangi tiga trofi berturut-turut.
"Saya menghargai apa yang dilakukan Zainal sewaktu membawa kami ke separuh akhir (Piala Malaysia) tetapi sekali lagi, separuh akhir tidak memberikan anda trofi."
