Alan Shearer menyifatkan England sebagai boleh gembira dengan undian mereka di peringkat kumpulan Piala Dunia Qatar apabila skuad The Three Lions bakal berdepan Amerika Syarikat (AS), Iran, dan pemenang play-off zon Eropah terakhir.
Keputusan undian di negara penganjur malam tadi itu juga bakal menyaksikan anak buah Gareth Southgate mungkin berdepan Wales atau Scotland dalam Kumpulan E.
Scotland dijadual bertemu Ukraine bagi perebutan tempat menerusi perlawanan akhir play-off di Cardiff, Jun depan.
Ia juga mengulangi pertembungan England dengan AS dalam perlawanan pembukaan kempen mereka di Afrika Selatan pada 2010 yang berkesudahan 1-1.
England tidak pernah berdepan Wales, Scotland mahupun Ukraine dalam Piala Dunia tetapi menundukkan lawan serupa dalam dua kempen Euro terakhir apabila menewaskan Wales 2-1 (Euro 2016) dan seri 0-0 dengan Scotland (Euro 2020).
Bekas ketua pasukan England, Shearer, berasakan negaranya sepatutnya lega dapat mengelak negara handalan yang lain sambil bercakap tentang keterujaannya terhadap prospek mereka pada hujung tahun ini.
"Gareth akan menilainya dan fikir ia mungkin menjadi lebih sukar," katanya kepada BBC Sport.
“Saya pasti dia dan pemainnya akan gembira dengan undian ini.
"Tiada sebarang kumpulan maut, kejohanan ini agak terbuka.
"Saya harus mengatakan bahawa saya gembira dengan kelibat Scotland, Wales atau Ukraine di dalam kumpulan ini. Ia menambahkan lagi keterujaan. Jika Wales atau Scotland maka ia akan mengubah senario persaingan kepada lebih sukar.
"Gareth Southgate pasti berpuas hati dengan undian ini.
"Tapi dia tidak boleh terlalu seronok dan menyatakannya. Dia cukup profesional untuk meluahkannya tetapi dia pasti gembira mengenainya."
