Penjaga gol Kedah, Mohd Ifwat Akmal Che Kassim, tidak meletakkan harapan terlalu tinggi untuk terus kekal berada dalam skuad bola sepak Sukan SEA 2017, namun tetap ingin memberikan yang terbaik bagi menambat hati jurulatih, Frank Bernhardt.
Pemain kelahiran Alor Setar, Ifwat, adalah antara enam pemain baharu yang dipanggil untuk menjalani kem latihan skuad bawah 22 tahun negara, kelmarin.
Penjaga gol yang kekal bersama Kedah pada musim depan itu menyedari persaingan sengit dengan Muhammad Haziq Nadzli dari PDRM untuk terus kekal berada dalam pasukan.
Baginya, tiada alasan untuk dia berasa selesa sambil menegaskan perlu berusaha lebih kuat bagi memikat perhatian jurulatih.
“Jika diberikan peluang, saya akan buat yang terbaik untuk membuktikan kualiti saya,” kata Ifwat.
Sementara itu, pemain dari Selangor, Adam Nor Azlin, tidak terkecuali diberikan peluang untuk membuktikan sesuatu kepada Bernhardt dan berharap aksi persahabatan berdepan Myanmar nanti menjadi taruhan terbaik untuknya.
“Sebagai pemain, kami harus mengikut setiap perancangan jurulatih, saya akan cuba berusaha dalam sesi latihan untuk memberikan yang terbaik," kata Adam.
Skuad negara akan menentang Myanmar dalam perlawanan persahabatan, 22 November nanti.
Bola sepak lelaki adalah antara 405 acara yang dipertandingkan dalam 38 sukan di Sukan Sea Kuala Lumpur, 19-31 Ogos tahun depan.
