Persatuan Bolasepak Selangor (FAS) tidak 'main kotor' dalam tindakannya memborong 'ubi muda' apabila setiausaha agungnya, Dr. Johan Kamal Hamidon, menegaskan saluran betul digunakan untuk mendapatkan pemain daripada kumpulan pertama Akademi Mokhtar Dahari (AMD).
FAS mencetuskan sensasi apabila merekrut seramai 28 daripada 34 pemain kumpulan pertama AMD yang membabitkan pemain seperti Sikh Izhan Nazrel Sikh Azman, Harith Haiqal Adam Afkar dan Hariz Mansor.
Namun, tindakan agresif persatuan itu mengundang pelbagai dakwaan.
Ia membabitkan pendekatan FAS ketika mendapatkan pemain terbabit yang dikatakan telah dipengaruhi oleh pihak tertentu.
"Apa yang kami buat ini adalah apa yang kami rasakan terbaik buat pasukan Selangor dan paling penting, pemain muda-muda ini.
"Kami mempunyai perancangan buat mengetengahkan pembangunan mereka.
"Sebab itulah kami menaik taraf infrastruktur dan kemudahan," katanya.
Penyertaan beramai-ramai pemain AMD ke Gergasi Merah juga mengundang kebimbangan pemerhati bola sepak negara kerana mungkin ada dalam kalangan pemain tidak berkesempatan menunjukkan bakat sebenar mereka kepada jurulatih kebangsaan.
"Mereka masih berusia 18 tahun dan boleh (diserapkan dalam) skuad Piala Belia, malah mereka juga (setahun lebih muda) dalam Piala Presiden.
"Kalau pemain AMD memang berbakat, maka mereka boleh merebut slot dalam kesebelasan skuad B-23.
"Tetapi secara realistiknya, di akademi mana-mana sekalipun, tiada jaminan bahawa semua pelatih akan dapat bermain," katanya lagi.
Pengarah Teknikal FAS, Michael Feictenbeiner, yang juga jurulatih Selangor II menggalas tanggungjawab menentukan kedudukan kumpulan pemain berkenaan tanpa mengetepikan bakat muda sedia ada di Selangor.
