Everton mengesahkan seorang penyokongnya telah ditangkap selepas dua pemain Aston Villa, Matty Cash dan Lucas Digne, dibaling botol minuman sewaktu perlawanan Liga Perdana Inggeris (EPL) malam tadi.
Insiden itu berlaku dalam waktu kecederaan separuh masa pertama di Goodison Park, di mana pemain Villa sedang meraikan jaringan pembukaan Emi Buendia -- yang kemudian menjadi jaringan tunggal perlawanan itu.
Pemain Villa meraikan jaringan itu di satu sudut padang berhadapan dengan tempat duduk penyokong Everton sebelum mereka dilontar dengan beberapa botol minuman.
Salah satu objek yang dilempar itu terkena Cash dan Digne -- Digne pernah mewakili Everton selama tiga setengah tahun sebelum memilih untuk menyertai Villa minggu lalu berikutan hubungan tegangnya dengan pengurus, Rafael Benitez.
Kedua-dua pemain itu rebah ke tanah dan memegang kepala mereka tetapi masih mampu meneruskan permainan selepas itu.
Everton, tidak lama selepas kekalahan 0-1 itu, mengesahkan bahawa mereka sudah mengenal pasti identiti penyokong yang terlibat dalam insiden itu dan kes berkenaan kini telah diserahkan kepada Polis Merseyside.
"Polis telah menahan seorang penyokong kerana melempar objek ke arah padang sewaktu perlawanan EPL menentang Aston Villa hari ini," kata kelab itu dalam satu kenyataan.
"Kakitangan keselamatan Everton dan Polis Merseyside dapat mengenal pasti penyokong berkenaan melalui rakaman CCTV.
"Beberapa objek dibaling ke arah padang sebaik Aston Villa menjaringkan gol pada penghujung separuh masa pertama dan salah satu objek berkenaan telah mengenai dua permain lawan.
"Siasatan bersama pihak polis sedang berjalan dan kelab ini akan mengenakan larangan ke stadium buat mana-mana penyokong yang dikenal pasti membaling objek."
