Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the number of hate crimes has escalated, especially towards Asian-Americans in the United States.

These have included instances of physical harassment, discrimination, and racial slurs.

Now Asians around the world have started to unite against racism.

Known for their celebration of the deep-rooted Asian values of integrity, humility, honor, respect, courage, discipline, and compassion, several of ONE Championship’s superstars have spoken out.

“Unstoppable” Angela Lee, who is the reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion, was one of the featured athletes in the video against racism.

“There has been a huge increase in the number of violent, racist attacks towards Asians. We need to do something,” the 23-year-old said.

“Now more than ever is the time to come together.”

As one of the most popular faces of the organization, Lee has a huge following in Asia and her strong words will register with many of her fans in the region.

Joining her in this chorus is ONE Featherweight World Champion Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen.

As the son of Vietnamese immigrant parents who emerged from Australia to become a martial arts sensation, Nguyen has been a great ambassador for tolerance and unity.

“Don’t make jokes linking Asians to COVID-19,” Nguyen said. “This virus does not discriminate, and neither should we.”

ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera also chimed in to support the Vietnamese-Australian martial arts superstar.

“If you see someone getting picked on, if you see somebody become a target of racism, speak up,” Vera said. “We have to stand together.”

All three World Champions are inspiring figures in Asia, and they continue to serve as beacons of hope during these challenging times.

ONE Championship’s message is clear – racism is simply wrong no matter the circumstance, and Asians should stand together in solidarity with the rest of the world against this dangerous pandemic.
