Talks of a ONE Atomweight World Grand Prix featuring the best female mixed martial artists have been circulating for close to a year now.

As of Wednesday night, the tournament is official.

ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong confirmed that the ONE Atomweight World Grand Prix will begin on 28 May and feature eight of the top contenders in the division.

The winner of the Grand Prix will then challenge reigning ONE Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee for the belt in November.

“The ONE Atomweight World Grand Prix kicks off May 28! Bar none, it is the single greatest female world grand prix in the history of martial arts,” Sityodtong said.

Resident Singaporean and undefeated rising star Ritu “The Indian Tigress” Phogat, who trains and fights out of Evolve MMA, will be one of the eight women to compete in the tournament.

She’ll be thrust into the mix alongside #1-ranked Denice “The Menace” Zamboanga, #2-ranked Meng Bo, and #5-ranked Stamp Fairtex.

Also in the grand prix is undefeated star Itsuki “Strong Heart Fighter” Hirata and recent ONE signees Alyse Anderson and Seo Hee Ham.

Recent debutant Alyona Rassohyna caps off the eight standout fighters.
