Cristiano Ronaldo passionately roared his support for his Juventus team-mates ahead of their Champions League clash with Barcelona on Wednesday.

Ronaldo has been forced to miss the game after he returned a positive COVID-19 test on the eve of the Group G fixture in Turin.

Ronaldo has been self-isolating since testing positive for the virus while away on international duty with Portugal at the start of the month.

In a video posted on Instagram a few hours before the match Ronaldo jumped off a treadmill into his trademark celebration pose then shouted: "Forza Juve!".

He also wrote a message along with the video which said: "Come on guys! All together! Until the end!"

The 35-year-old had earlier used his Instagram account to criticise the protocol around the coronavirus testing, but subsequently deleted the post.

Former Real Madrid player Ronaldo's absence denied him of the opportunity to line up against his old Barcelona adversary Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo and Messi have met 33 times in club matches, with the former Real Madrid star scoring 18 goals and providing one assist, finishing on the winning side on nine occasions.
