Perak overtook Pahang for second place in the Malaysian Super League table after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Terengganu at the Perak Stadium on Sunday.
The hosts opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Wander Luiz Junior fired a shot from outside the penalty box to beat Terengganu goalkeeper Suffian Abdul Rahman Kungi Raman.
The visitors equalised in the 11th minute when Robert Cornthwaite deflected J. Partiban's cross into his own net, but Perak re-took the lead via Gilmar Jose Da Silva two minutes later.
The Brazilian was on target again as he scored from the penalty spot in the 38th minute after the ball hit a Terengganu player's hand in the penalty area.
In the second half, the Turtles managed to reduce the gap when Lee Tuck scored a penalty in the 79th minute after goalkeeper Hafizul Hakim Khairul Nizam Jothy brought down Tchetche Kipre.
Perak now have 19 points from nine matches, five points behind league leaders and defending champions Johor Darul Ta'zim, while Pahang, who played out a 2-2 draw with Kedah on Saturday, are third with 18 points.
Meanwhile, Selangor were held to a 1-1 draw by PKNP FC at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Cheras on the same day.
The Red Giants took the lead through Rufino Segovia del Burgo in the 53rd minute, but Hafiz Ramdan equalised for the visitors in injury time.
The result saw PKNP FC cling to seventh spot in the table with 11 points, while Selangor pipped Melaka United for ninth place with 10 points.
