Pep Guardiola ended speculation over his future by signing a new two-year contract with Manchester City on Thursday.

The deal, which runs until 2023, will see the former Barcelona boss extend his stay in England to seven years.

While Champions League glory has eluded them, City have hit new heights since Guardiola's arrival in 2016. They have won six major domestic trophies, including two Premier League titles, winning 181 of their 245 games in all competitions.

Guardiola's first league title in England two years ago saw City set some remarkable records...

100 - A late Gabriel Jesus goal at Southampton on the final day meant City finished the season on 100 points, the first time any team reached three figures in England's top flight.

32 - The champions' dominance was evident across an impressive 32 league victories, which surpassed Chelsea's Premier League record of 30 (2016-17). They matched that tally a season later, as did Liverpool in 2019-20.

16 - City won 16 times away from home, beating another Chelsea record (15, set under Jose Mourinho in 2004-05). That victory at Southampton took them to 50 points won on their travels, which was also a record.

5 - City matched the English top-flight record by claiming the title with five games to spare, equalling the efforts of Manchester United (1907-08 and 2000-01) and Everton (1984-85). That record was then beaten by Liverpool last season, when they sealed glory with seven matches left.

3 - Guardiola became the third manager to win the Premier League in addition to at least two of the other top-five European leagues, joining Carlo Ancelotti and Jose Mourinho in the exclusive club.

902 - The number of passes completed in a one-sided 1-0 victory over Chelsea in March represented a new benchmark since Opta began recording the data in 2003-04.

153 - City were behind for 153 minutes across their 38 league games, the fewest by a team in any single season.

19 - City finished 19 points clear of second-place United, representing the biggest margin of victory in a Premier League title race. The previous largest was 18 points, which was set by the Red Devils in 1999-00.

18 - Their run of 18 consecutive wins – from beating Bournemouth 2-1 on August 26 to a 1-0 victory at Newcastle United on December 27 – set a new Premier League record.

19 - City beat every opponent in the Premier League this season, becoming the third team in history to do so, after Chelsea (2005-06) and Manchester United (2010-11).

106 - Their final goal tally of 106 was the largest seen in the Premier League, three more than previous record-holders Chelsea managed in 2009-10. It also gave them a goal difference of 79, another new record.
