After losing Jeremy Lin to a knee injury earlier this season, Brooklyn could be without yet another star for the same reason.

Nets guard D'Angelo Russell is expected to miss several games with a left knee contusion suffered in Saturday's loss to the Jazz, ESPN reported, citing unidentified league sources.

According to the report, Russell had an MRI upon the team's return to New York on Sunday and will undergo further evaluation on the injury.

Russell, 21, has been a star for the Nets since being traded from Los Angeles to Brooklyn in June. He was averaging 21 points and 5.7 assists before being sidelined with the injury.

The Nets (5-8) are scheduled to host the Celtics (11-2) at 7:30 p.m. ET Tuesday.
