The Warriors are unlikely to sign Dwight Howard in free agency.
The 32-year-old center is reportedly working on a buyout with the Nets after he was traded to the team from the Hornets in mid-June. Multiple rumors surfaced recently saying Golden State may consider signing Howard this summer.
But, the Warriors “insist that they will not be pursuing” Howard in free agency, according to a report from the New York Times.
Howard, an eight-time All-Star, averaged 16.6 points and 12.5 rebounds per game in 2017-18, his lone season with the Hornets.
Howard tallied 13.5 points per contest with the Hawks in 2016-17 before he was traded to Charlotte last June.
The Warriors swept the Cavaliers to earn the NBA title last season, their third championship in four years. They will reportedly explore the possibility of signing center DeAndre Jordan, who opted out of his contract with the Clippers this week.
