During the fourth quarter of the Blazers-Suns preseason game Wednesday, Portland shooting guard C.J. McCollum took several steps off the bench while teammate Caleb Swanigan and Phoenix's Alex Len got into a tussle.

As a result, the NBA has suspended McCollum for one game. While McCollum did not engage with anyone, leaving the bench area is enough to merit a penalty under NBA rules.

The Blazers will be without McCollum for their season opener next Wednesday, which will coincidentally be in Phoenix against the Suns.

According to ESPN's Bobby Marks, McCollum will forfeit a $165,000 game check. The 26-year-old should be eligible to return when the Blazers play the Pacers next Friday.
