The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) are leaving no stones unturned ahead of the return of the national shuttlers to the Akademi Badminton Negara (ABM) on Monday with a list of standard operating procedures to be adhered to.

"We have drawn up plans for our training programmes to make sure we have a smooth transition when the players return.

"The ABM has 18 courts, but we will only use nine to ensure our players and coaches observe social distancing.

"The singles and doubles players will also train separately and we will not exceed 10 players in the hall at any point. For gym sessions, we will separate the players into groups of three and they will not share equipment," BAM coaching director Wong Choong Hann told New Straits Times.

In total, there will be over 50 personnel including support staff present when Tokyo Olympics-bound shuttlers return to training on Monday.

Full training will not begin until all the players undergo the coronavirus swab test, with the results expected to take around two days.

With competitive action for most of the Olympics bound players only expected to start in September, they have plenty of time to regain their fitness and competitive edge before the season resumes.

The world body have also pushed the second phase of the Olympics qualifiers to the first five months of 2021, so there will not be added pressure on the shuttlers to make the cut this year.
