Malaysian sprinter Zaidatul Husniah Zulkifli was unable to end her dream run in the women's 100m event at the 2018 Asian Games ended on a high note on Sunday.
Making her Asian Games debut in Indonesia, the 25-year-old set her seasonal best time of 11.59s in the qualifying round yesterday.
Then, earlier in the day, she became the first Malaysian to qualify for the women's 100m final since G. Shanti did it in 1998.
However, she could not replicate her predecessor's performance of finishing fourth in Bangkok, Thailand, as she came last in the final with a time of 11.61s.
Bahrain's Edidiong Odiong (11.30s) took home the gold medal, followed by Indian sprinter Dutee Chand (11.32s) and Wei Yongli (11.33s) of China.
Meanwhile, in the men's 100m, which was won by China's Su Bingtian with a new Games record of 9.92s, both Khairul Hafiz Jantan and Jonathan Nyepa failed to reach the final.
They clocked 10.45s and 10.46s respectively in the semi-finals.
