Pelari pecut negara, Muhammad Azeem Fahmi, belum pasti beralih gelanggang latihan di sebalik desas-desus mengatakan dia ke Kuala Lumpur dalam masa terdekat.
Azeem yang mendapat sentuhan jurulatih, Muhammad Amir Izwan Tan Abdullah, di Perak menjelaskan ada beberapa sebab dia belum memuktamadkan keputusannya termasuk membabitkan persiapannya ke Kejohanan Olahraga Remaja Dunia di Colombia selain faktor pendidikannya.
"Kalau saya pergi ke Kuala Lumpur sekalipun mungkin untuk persiapan ke Kejohanan Remaja Dunia.
"Sebelum itu saya akan menyertai Terbuka Sarawak pada awal bulan depan sebelum memuktamadkan perpindahan saya.
"Kalau saya ke Kuala Lumpur dan jurulatih pula tidak dapat ikut saya, saya akan tetap gunakan program yang diterapkannya tetapi di bawah pemantauan jurulatih di sana.
"Kalau di Kuala Lumpur banyak kemudahan seperti MSN (Majlis Sukan Negara) dan ISN (Institut Sukan Negara) yang akan memastikan saya bersedia untuk lari atau tidak.
"Latihan di Ipoh tiada masalah cuma di Kuala Lumpur lebih lengkap," katanya.
Azeem juga berkongsi kepada wartawan Astro Arena, Muiz Aziz, bahawa dia berkemungkinan akan menyambung pelajaran di Amerika Syarikat (AS) seawal Januari 2023.
"Buat masa ini saya masih berbincang dengan jurulatih dan keluarga untuk sambung pengajian.
"Kalau diberi peluang, saya akan manfaatkan peluang latihan dan belajar di luar negara.
"Paling awal saya pergi mungkin pada Januari 2023. Saya menerima dua tawaran iaitu di Universiti Winona dan Minnesota tapi selepas berbincang dengan pihak di sana, ada peluang yang lebih baik lagi.
"Saya dan jurulatih tidak terburu-buru untuk capai sasaran. Kami cuba kekalkan catatan di bawah 10.3saat sebelum mencapai kemuncak prestasi," katanya.
