Malaysian figure skater Julian Yee made it two gold medals from two SEA Games editions as he came out on top at the SM Megamall Ice Rink, Mandaluyong.

After facing a close battle in the short program on Friday, the 22-year-old, who represented Malaysia at the 2018 Winter Olympics, blew his opponents out of the water in the free skating segment on Sunday.

Totalling 202.72 points, he edged past the Philippines' Christopher Caluza (180.22) and Thailand's Micah Kai Lynette (174.06) for the gold medal.

It was Malaysia's fourth gold of the day after Loh Choon How, Sam Jee Lek and the polo team.



In the ladies' event, Singaporean skater Chloe Ing, who won silver two years ago, took home the crown this time with a combined scores of 152.67 points.

There was also a return to the podium for the Philippines' Alisson Krystle Perticheto (132.76), who upgraded her bronze from two years ago to silver this year.

Savika Refa Zahira (100.80) of Indonesia completed the women's podium as Malaysian representatives Aina Sorina Aminudin (85.24) and Chew Sze Chyi (71.76) missed out.
