The Sepak Takraw League (STL) has been postponed indefinitely after a team official came into close contact with someone tested positive for COVID-19.

According to an official statement from Persatuan Sepaktakraw Malaysia (PSM), a report from the Ministry of Health confirmed they were on the same bus last week.

The team official in question is currently in quarantine, but several STL players had reportedly come into close contact with him prior to that.

Due to uncertainty on the severity, the PSM had an emergency meeting with the National Sports Council, National Sports Institute and Astro earlier today and decided to prioritise everyone's safety.

"[We] have decided to postpone all competitions organised by the PSM including STL 2020, STL Youth 2020 and Dato' Seri Haji Ahmad Ismail Cup indefinitely until the result of the team official's COVID-19 screening is out," said PSM president Ahmad Ismail in the statement.

Prior to the postponement, the 2020 STL Premier season was supposed to enter its fourth gameweek this week, which included a Klang Valley derby between Kuala Lumpur Thunder and the Selangor Pistons as well as a 2019 STL Champions Cup Final rematch between the Johor Tigris and the Penang Black Panthers.

The KL Thunder are leading the standings with 14 full points, followed by the Kelantan Warriors and the ATM Guardians who are tied with six points each.
