Malaysian silat exponent Faizul Nasir is still under intensive care but his condition has shown improvement.

The 2015 and 2017 SEA Games gold medallist was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday after being knocked unconscious while competing at the 2019 SEA Games.

While on the ground, the 31-year-old was kicked in the face by Filipino opponent Dines Dumaan in the quarter-finals of the men's B-class (50-55kg) tanding event.

He regained his consciousness later that night and was in a better condition when he was visited by Astro Arena on Wednesday.

"I cannot stand up yet [and it is] suspected that I have a C4 or C5 neck injury.

"There is a slight concern that I might have internal bleeding because the x-ray result showed no broken bones, just swollen.

"The doctor said I got a concussion after being kicked," said Faizul.
