The National Sports Council (MSN) denied an accusation made by former gymnast Nur Eli Ellina Azmi, who claimed her welfare as a national athlete was ignored.

In a press statement released on Monday, they said there were no issues related to her complaint posted on Instagram, as she was no longer in the national gymnastics training programme under the MSN at that time.

Memandangkan semua orang tanya Eli “KENAPA” kan? Ini JAWAPAN dia! ?? and Eli ada bukti yang ada lagi atlet-atlet lain yang senasib dengan Eli ? The MSN explained that after the SEA Games, the national team selection process was conducted along with national sports associations and no athlete was put under their programme for two months in September and October 2017.

The selection of athletes to the subsequent MSN programme was based on eight criteria, which were agreed upon by the national sports associations for the purpose of preparing athletes towards the 2018 Commonwealth Games and Asia Games.

But Nur Eli Ellina was not selected by the Malaysian Gymnastics Association and her name was also not recommended by the association to the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) Selection Committee, which convened on October 3, 2017.

"She has submitted a letter asking for the justifications and the selection criteria for the selection of female gymnasts to the Commonwealth Games 2018 on December 11, 2017.

"The MSN has explained in detail by letter to her dated January 10, 2018 and Nur Eli Ellina has acknowledged and subsequently decided to retire through a letter dated February 2," read the statement issued by the MSN Corporate Communications branch.
