Wigan Warriors overturned a narrow half-time deficit to record a hard-fought 18-8 home win over Super League's bottom side London Broncos on Thursday.

After Kieran Dixon's early penalty put the visitors ahead, Wigan scored the game's opening try when Jake Shorrocks darted through a gap to reach the line.

However, Jay Pitts provided the finish to Jordan Abdull's kick midway through the opening half, the try eventually awarded after a check by the video referee, as the Broncos led 8-6 at the break.

Wigan went back in front again in the 49th minute when an error from Elliot Kear gifted Chris Hankinson an easy finish, Zak Hardaker landing the conversion attempt.

Their advantage was extended as Morgan Escare reached George Williams' kick to score, Hardaker landing the extras for a third time.

The Warriors retained their double-digit cushion through to the final whistle of a low-key encounter, in the process handing the Broncos an eighth successive defeat in all competitions.
