Rebels and Australia utility back Reece Hodge will miss the rest of the Super Rugby AU season due to a knee injury.

Hodge faces a spell on the sidelines after suffering ligament damage in a 16-15 defeat to the Western Force last Friday.

The 26-year-old will play no further part in the Rebels' campaign and it remains to be seen whether he will be fit to feature when the Wallabies return to action in July, with France due to tour Australia.

"Reece Hodge has suffered an MCL injury sustained during last Friday's game & will be sidelined for the remainder of the Super Rugby AU & Trans-Tasman Competitions," the Rebels tweeted on Monday.

"Rebels’ family - join us in wishing Hodgey a speedy recovery!"

The Rebels are third in the table with two wins from six matches.
