Leeds Rhinos have confirmed the appointment of Richard Agar on a 12-month rolling contract.

Agar was placed in interim charge following the dismissal of David Furner in May, when the club were at serious risk of losing their Super League spot.

The 47-year-old guided the Rhinos to seven wins from 14 matches to ensure they will remain in the top flight for the 2020 campaign.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed working with this group of players and helping them turn the corner this season," Agar told the club's official website.

"This is an outstanding club, both on and off the field, and it is our responsibility over the coming years to once again challenge for honours over a sustained period.

"I believe we are set for some exciting times in the future and I will be honoured to play my part in this."

Leeds will hope Agar can bring glory back to a club who have won eight grand finals since 2004.
