Issac Luke confirmed on Saturday he has ended a short spell with the beleaguered St George Illawarra Dragons to join Brisbane Broncos for family reasons rather than unrest in the camp.

Former New Zealand hooker Luke is on the move after making just three appearances for the Dragons, who are bottom of the NRL ladder after losing all four matches.

It was reported that Luke is departing with all not well both on and off the field at the embattled club, but the 33-year-old insisted that is not the case.

He posted on Twitter: "I'm extremely humbled to have been a part of the St George Illawarra Dragons during the pre-season as well as playing a couple of games with them.

"With support from the club and their understanding they were happy to release me to take an opportunity in Brisbane where my family and I were going to live after footy finished.

"This has nothing to do with what has been going on here and I advise youse (sic) all to wake yourselves up.

"I'm doing this for my family. My wife has followed me through my career and through all that we always said that we will finish in Brisbane.

"Brisbane Broncos gave us an opportunity to go home. And we are taking it. I can't wait to rip in."
