Shaun Wane will end his long reign as head coach of Wigan Warriors with a Super League Grand Final against Warrington Wolves after a 14-0 victory over toothless Castleford Tigers.
The outstanding Thomas Leuluai - making his 250th appearance for the club - scored the only try of the first half before laying on another for Sam Tomkins, playing his last home match before joining Catalans Dragons.
Last year's runners-up Castleford were unable to breach a magnificent Wigan defence, Tomkins also scoring six points with the boot to set up a repeat of the 2016 final - a game the Warriors won.
Wane, set to take over as Scottish Rugby's high performance coach, Tomkins, John Bateman and Ryan Sutton will all get the opportunity to sign off in style against the Wolves at Old Trafford on October 13.
Wigan came into the game as favourites following a run of eight consecutive victories and they started with a spring in their step.
Leuluai struck the first blow 10 minutes in when he powered his way over from scrum-half to mark his landmark outing after a high tackle from Luke Gale had sparked a melee.
Tomkins converted and was also on target with a drop goal just before the break, with Castleford lacking fluency and making far too many mistakes as they struggled to find a way through against Wigan.
The hosts created some breathing space eight minutes into the second half when Tomkins rounded off a slick move by finishing in the right corner, the inspirational Leuluai setting him up with a clever pass.
Tomkins added a penalty before having the final say with a drop goal right at the end, allowing an emotional Wane to celebrate a dominant victory which keeps alive his hopes of pulling off a fitting finish to his tenure.
