North Queensland Cowboys great Matt Scott has been discharged from hospital after suffering a mild stroke.

Scott, who is retiring at the end of the NRL season, suffered a mild stroke on August 18.

The Cowboys announced the 34-year-old had left hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

"North Queensland Toyota Cowboys legend Matt Scott has been discharged from hospital as he continues his recovery from a mild stroke," the NRL club said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Scott's condition has improved gradually over the past two weeks and doctors remain confident he will make a full recovery in due course."

The Cowboys face Melbourne Storm on Friday in the last round of the NRL season, with their finals chances over.
