Malaysian squash queen Nicol David has been voted by fans as the greatest women's player of all time.

According to the Professional Squash Association (PSA) on Friday, the 35-year-old edged out the likes of New Zealand legend Susan Devoy and 16-time British Open winner Heather McKay to the honour.

Over the course of her career, she has won eight world titles and 81 PSA championships and, at one point, was the longest reigning world no. 1 in squash history for 109 consecutive months between 2006 and 2015.

Outside the PSA competition, Nicol has also enjoyed success at the World Games, Commonweatlh Games and Asian Games.

Most recently she added one gold and one bronze to her impressive collection of Asian Games medals.
