ONE Championship kicked off its 2020 calendar of events in style at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand last Friday, 10 January.

Among the many incredible winners from ONE: A NEW TOMORROW, three athletes, in particular, moved closer to greatness.

We take a look at what could be next for these three warriors in 2020.

Rodtang’s Potential Showdown With French-Algerian Striking “Sniper”

ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon looked magnificent as he successfully defended his World Title against Jonathan “The General” Haggerty in their rematch.

While few competitors can trade on even terms with the Thai hero, Elias “The Sniper” Mahmoudi might be up to the task.

The French-Algerian sensation recently defeated Lerdsila Phuket Top Team to stake his claim among the very best Muay Thai athletes in ONE Super Series.

Mahmoudi’s striking and wide-ranging arsenal could provide an intriguing test for “The Iron Man” and make for a thrilling contest with the World Champion.

A Likely Next Test For Stamp At Atomweight

In all her mixed martial arts battles so far, two-sport ONE World Champion Stamp Fairtex has steamrolled each of her opponents.

She recently finished Puja “The Cyclone” Tomar with a ferocious volley of ground and pound strikes in the first round of their mixed martial arts clash at Bangkok’s Impact Arena.

One woman who stands a chance to stop her momentum is veteran Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol. The Indonesian striker – who is riding a two-bout win streak – would be the most experienced mixed martial arts opponent Stamp has ever faced.

Thanks to her wushu background, the Siam Camp Training representative has elite stand-up skills, but she can also call upon a strong wrestling and submission pedigree if things hit the ground.

Lumban Gaol might just be the perfect opponent to test the 22-year-old Thai superstar’s evolution as a mixed martial artist.

Le Could Expect To Face A Fellow Phenom On The Feet

Thanh Le is a showstopper. The Vietnamese-American star kept his 100-percent finishing rate intact with a stunning first-round knockout of Ryogo “Kaitai” Takahashi.

Since entering The Home Of Martial Arts, Le has scored three-straight finishes in just eight months.

His impressive run has put him on a collision course with featherweight king Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, but the LFA Featherweight Champion also has no qualms in taking down all contenders to prove himself worthy of a World Title shot first.

Either way, a showdown with the ONE Featherweight World Champion would be a fantastic match-up featuring two phenomenal strikers who would entertain fans everywhere.

ONE Championship looks to top their opening show of 2020 with ONE: FIRE & FURY on 31 January in Manila, Philippines.
