Martial arts fans around the world will have to wait until after April to get their fix of ONE Championship action.

Due to new COVID-19 restrictions in Singapore, ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong announced that they will reschedule ONE: HOPE and ONE: STRENGTH, which were supposed to take place in “The Lion City.”

“Unfortunately, ONE Championship will have to postpone its closed-door, audience-free events for April due to new COVID-19 restrictions,” Sityodtong posted on 6 April on his Facebook page.

“To extinguish the recent growth of the coronavirus, the Singapore Government has just wisely ordered a partial lockdown of the country, whereby effective tomorrow (April 7th) onwards, only essential services (such as food, healthcare, and transportation) are allowed to operate.”

Sityodtong further cited the travel restrictions imposed by other countries like China, Thailand, Australia, and India – among others – as another factor behind his decision to postpone the events in Singapore.

ONE initially conceived these closed-door shows to help raise the spirits of the millions around the world who continue to battle the ongoing pandemic.

The two April shows – which were originally set for Friday, 17 April and Friday, 24 April – will now take place at a later date.
