If there was anything breakable about ONE Championship’s first event of the year, it was the promotion’s previous submission records.

On Friday, 22 January, two athletes entered their names in ONE’s history books by producing incredible finishes at ONE: UNBREAKABLE.

First, debuting ground wizard Gadzhimurad Abdulaev submitted former ONE Welterweight World Champion Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam with a face crank at 2:08 of round one – the fastest submission in ONE welterweight history.

Then, in the evening’s co-main event, Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki submitted American grappling ace James Nakashima with a neck crank at 2:42 of round one, which gave Aoki the most career submissions in ONE Championship (8).

The action was capped off by the man who already held the record for fastest KO in ONE Super Series history, Capitan Petchyindee Academy. On this night, the Thai star knocked out defending ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Alaverdi “Babyface Killer” Ramazanov to become the new divisional king.

From the onset, it was clear that Capitan was trying to break the Russian’s spirit, as he landed low kicks and right hands that troubled the defending World Champ.

The finale came in the second round when Capitan lit up his rival with left hooks, low kicks, and two bout-ending right hands.
