ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy defends his belt against “The Boxing Computer” Yodsanklai IWE Fairtex in the co-main event of ONE: NO SURRENDER in Bangkok, Thailand, this Friday, 31 July.

It’s going to be an epic bout between two of Thailand’s greatest featherweight strikers, and in preparation for the ONE World Title clash, Petchmorakot has been honing his skills in the gym he calls home – Petchyindee Academy.

Although Petchmorakot’s name has become synonymous with Petchyindee, there was a time when the younger, greener athlete had to fall back on two friends to help him adapt to life at his new training grounds.

“Luckily, I already knew Nong-O [Gaiyanghadao] and Sam-A [Gaiyanghadao] before I came here, so I felt better,” he said.

The two Thais, who now hold their own ONE World Titles and compete out of Evolve MMA in Singapore, had already cemented their legacy in “the art of eight limbs” when Petchmorakot first arrived, and they made sure their apprentice developed a strong foundation in Muay Thai.

“I was excited to have a chance to train and be guided by them. They taught me what was right and wrong. It was great,” Petchmorakot said.

“We trained on how to throw certain weapons and many other things together. They were always teaching me.”

The lessons didn’t end during training camps, however. Petchmorakot’s mentors even passed on their hard-earned wisdom on the days the young Thai was competing.

“Nong-O and Sam-A were always talking to me about tactics,” he continued. “Even on the actual bout day, they were there guiding me.”

Despite being two thousand kilometers away from his mentors in Singapore, come this Friday, there’s no question that Petchmorakot will carry into the ring with him all of what Nong-O and Sam-A have instilled in him.

Moreover, there’s no doubt his mentors will be tuning in to watch their prodigy defend his belt against “The Boxing Computer.”

You, too, can watch Petchmorakot defend his strap against Yodsanklai at ONE: NO SURRENDER live and for free this Friday, 31 July, by downloading the ONE Super App.
