Roshan Mainam will return to ONE Championship next weekend, and he’s looking to keep his stunning finishing streak alive.

The Indian star is scheduled to face Aziz “The Krauser” Calim at the previously recorded ONE: FISTS OF FURY III, which airs next Friday, 19 March.

The Singapore-based fighter joined ONE Championship in November 2019 and has dominated every single man in front of him. Now, he’s aiming to do the same against Calim.

“I am really excited for this match. I have been working hard since my last match, and I am ready for this challenge. I am geared up for a good performance,” Mainam said.

Calim will also be looking for a solid performance. He submitted Adi Paryanto at ONE: ETERNAL GLORY but then lost his most recent bout against Ryuto Sawada.

Mainam knows his foe will be hungry for the win, so he’s preparing to contend on both the canvas and the feet.

“I never take any fight lightly,“ the Indian said. "Calim debuted in ONE Championship before me. He has represented his country in many fights before this. He is a tough opponent with lots of experience. I will try my best to give a great performance.

“He has a good understanding of both striking and the ground game. He has showcased good clinching, grappling, and ground game in his matches. He is a well-rounded opponent.”

Of course, Mainam will have his own grappling skills to fall back on. And if the bout hits the canvas, he’ll be looking to finish it from there.

“[Calim] has lost some his matches by submission. I will try my best to finish him by either submission or striking,” he said.

“I will try to finish the match as soon as possible – in the first round.”

A win for the Evolve MMA product would certainly be a personal milestone. But when he steps into the Circle next Friday, he won’t just be fighting for himself – he’ll be competing for his entire nation.

“I would like to make my country proud this year. I am training with world-class fighters [at Evolve MMA], and the level of training is quite different and a notch above the rest,” Mainam said.

“I have trained hard and tried to take myself to the next level. I have improved in my last two matches, and I would like to continue doing the same this year too.”
