Tony Ferguson was still in the mood to dance despite showing the gruesome injuries he suffered in a brutal defeat to Justin Gaethje at UFC 249.

The American was stopped in the fifth round by an inspired Gaethje, who earned the interim lightweight belt as UFC returned behind closed doors in Jacksonville.

Ferguson, who was favourite heading into the fight, took plenty of punishment and was taken to hospital after the bout, with it later revealed he had suffered a broken eye socket.

But the 36-year-old still found time to dance prior to being discharged, posting his moves on Instagram accompanied with the caption: "When you're about to get discharged from the hospital".

Ferguson was originally supposed to take on Khabib Nurmagomedov last month in Brooklyn but the suspension of UFC's operations due to the coronavirus pandemic meant that fight was cancelled.

Gaethje's shock win means he is now at the front of the queue to face Khabib, while it remains to be seen what Ferguson will do next.
