Kickboxing fanatics are in for a treat this Friday, 18 September.

Three-time Muay Thai World Champion Capitan Petchyindee Academy squares off with six-time Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Champion Petchtanong Petchfergus in a kickboxing co-main event showdown at ONE: A NEW BREED III.

Before martial arts fans tune in to catch all the action at the previously recorded event from Bangkok, Thailand, Capitan breaks down his upcoming rival.

“Petchtanong has a lot of experience in the ring,” he said about his rival, who owns a 356-55-1 record.

“He has much more experience than me – especially in kickboxing, where he is one of the best in the world for this weight class. Also, I only fought [under kickboxing rules] once in my life.”

Capitan might not have the experience on his side, but he believes he has something more important – youth, and the ability to throw a mean punch.

“I think my age, being younger than him by seven years, would be something that he should think about,” he said.

“I think my amateur boxing skills will help me a lot, too. Because of that, I should have better, quicker, and heavier punches.”

And believe him when he says it because Capitan has spent an awful lot of time trying to perfect his KO makers with Boonberkfah and Kongpipop, two of Petchyindee Academy’s most seasoned trainers.

“[Boonberkfah] trains me hard on my punches, which are my well-known weapons,” Capitan said.

“One other trainer is Kongpipop, who helps me understand how to better deal with southpaw opponents.”

If Capitan puts together everything he has learned for this camp, he could walk away the victor on Friday night.

Catch all the action at the previously recorded ONE: A NEW BREED III on the ONE Super App or meWATCH at 8:30 p.m. Singapore Standard Time this Friday, 18 September.
