Reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee entered 2021 dealing with an unfortunate incident regarding the family gym in Hawaii.

The 24-year-old world champion recently shared a post on Instagram, dated 3 January, depicting an unidentified individual smashing the doors of the United BJJ Hawaii gym with a machete. The incident was caught on CCTV security cameras.

United BJJ Hawaii is a satellite gym under the United MMA umbrella, and a newly opened facility she runs with husband Bruno Pucci.

“Dear United BJJ Hawaii students, unfortunately we did not have the best start to the new year, as we just found out someone had vandalized and smashed the exterior of the gym (windows and door),” Lee wrote on Instagram on Sunday.

“We have already met with the police and filed a report. We are shocked and disgusted by this act but we are incredibly grateful that no one was hurt. Sadly, we will not be able to open today, as we had hoped. We plan to use this weekend to clean and hopefully resume classes on Monday ¼. We are so sorry to inform you at such a late notice. We just found out about this incident and are trying our best to sort this all out.”

Lee established United BJJ Hawaii in 2020, but the effects of COVID-19 have left the facility running at limited capacity in the first few months of its operation.

Lee has also recently put her fighting career on hold, as she expects her first child with Pucci in the next few months. “Unstoppable” announced her pregnancy in late 2020.

The 24-year-old is the current and long-time holder of the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Championship, a title she captured in 2016 and has defended multiple times since then. Lee is expected to be out of action, at least until the end of the year, possibly beyond.

In the meantime, ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong announced a ONE Atomweight World Gran Prix tournament to determine the rightful #1 contender to the atomweight throne. Lee also visited Singapore last December to film her segment on the upcoming ‘The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition’ reality TV show, which is set to air early this year.
