Christian “The Warrior” Lee and “Unstoppable” Angela Lee each pulled off dramatic wins inside the Ryogoku Kokugikan.
Christian “The Warrior” Lee took to the stage first, and he defeated Turkish knockout king Saygid “Dagi” Guseyn Arslanaliev in the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix Championship Final.
With less than ten days to prepare, the Singaporean dominated “Dagi” with ground and pound to take the unanimous decision win.
Lee, also the ONE Lightweight World Champion, sent a stunning statement to the rest of the division with his victory – any challenger who wants the gold will have a stern test waiting for him.
Older sister and reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee also had her chance to shine in the main event.
After she fell short in her attempt to capture the strawweight gold in March against “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, “Unstoppable” defended her World Title against the Chinese superstar on 13 October.
The 23-year-old produced one of her finest performances and submitted “The Panda” with just 12 seconds left on the clock to keep the gold.
Despite all the challenges thrown her way, “Unstoppable” has lived up to her namesake and is still the reigning queen of the atomweight division.
Demetrious Johnson Adds Another Accolade To His Resume
Pound-for-pound great Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson put on a skillful display to defeat Danny “The King” Kingad in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Championship Final.
Johnson did not have the easiest of paths to the finale, and after two hard-earned victories against Yuya Wakamatsu and Tatsumitsu Wada, he finally hit top form against Kingad.
“Mighty Mouse” was challenged by the Team Lakay star’s athleticism and speed, but the American used his savvy and experience to overcome the Filipino sensation.
Johnson fell back on a dominant grappling game plan to control most of the contest, and after the bell rung, he had earned all three judges’ nods to take the unanimous decision win.
After adding the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Championship belt to his trophy case, the American legend has his sights set on ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes.
Sam-A Gaiyanghadao Returns To Winning Ways
Muay Thai legend Sam-A Gaiyanghadao secured a resounding victory over Frenchman Daren Rolland in their strawweight bout at ONE: CENTURY PART I.
The former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion showed that he was more comfortable competing at his preferred weight class.
The Singapore-based Thai scored a terrific second-round knockout to defeat Rolland in the first-ever ONE Super Series Muay Thai strawweight clash.
While Sam-A was dropped on one occasion by a right hand from the Paris native, the Thai hero handled everything Rolland threw his way.
The Evolve MMA representative smartly evaded Rolland’s punches and returned a short left hook that knocked the Frenchman out in the second frame.
With this tremendous win, the Thai is now comfortably back on the hunt for World Championship gold in ONE Super Series.
