3 Lessons We Learned From ONE: A NEW TOMORROW

Last Friday, 10 January, ONE Championship welcomed the new year with another extraordinary night of martial arts action at ONE: A NEW TOMORROW in Bangkok, Thailand.

Throughout the night, fans witnessed remarkable performances from international superstars and local martial arts heroes inside the Impact Arena.

Now that the dust has settled, we unpack three lessons we learned from the incredible event in Thailand’s capital city.

Who Can Withstand Rodtang’s Powerful Blows?

ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon delivered a powerful statement with his decisive TKO win over Jonathan “The General” Haggerty.

The two stars came together in their rematch and put on a slobber knocker in Friday night’s main event.

The Thai knockout artist showcased devastating power in his hands, as each body blow he landed to the midsection started to wear down his British rival.

Despite Haggerty’s best efforts to even the score with leg kicks, Rodtang served up a fresh diet of knuckle sandwiches and torso tenderizers to the Englishman.

Twice he was flattened, but “The General” got up only to be on the receiving end of another punishing flurry of strikes to the ribs and head. By the end of it all, the Knowlesy Academy representative could take no more.

At just 22 years old, Rodtang is constantly improving and will likely be a powerful force in The Home Of The Martial Arts for years to come.

Stamp’s Ground Game Is Looking Formidable

Two-sport ONE World Champion Stamp Fairtex entered Friday night’s contest against Puja “The Cyclone” Tomar with an undefeated record in mixed martial arts competition.

The Thai star has shown incredible versatility in both her previous matches – she dominated Bi “Killer Bee” Nguyen in the clinch and submitted Asha “Knockout Queen” Roka with a rear-naked choke.

The ONE Atomweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Champion’s evolution as a mixed martial artist reached an even higher point on Friday when she dismantled the Indian wushu champion with a first-round TKO to keep her winning streak intact.

Despite stiff resistance from Tomar early on, including a moment when the Indian had dumped her to the canvas, Stamp rebounded effortlessly and got back to her feet.

The two-sport ONE World Champion then turned the tables, taking her Indian rival to the ground. Once there, Stamp was in full control – she stayed in the mount position and continued to rain down hammer blows onto a helpless Tomar until the referee waved off the contest.

If she continues at this rate, Stamp’s electric performances will shake up the women’s atomweight division and keep her on the path towards “Unstoppable” Angela Lee’s atomweight crown.

Shinechagtga Validates His Main Roster Spot With Stunning KO

ONE Warrior Series contract winner Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg wanted to prove himself worthy on the global stage against “Cannon” Ma Jia Wen – and that is what he did.

The Mongolian warrior earned a reputation for his power and quick knockouts in the developmental league, and he followed it up with another strong first-round finish on Friday.

Shinechagtga’s overhand right sent “Cannon” to the canvas and sealed an emphatic victory in his promotional debut.

Now 11-2-1, Shinechagtga aims to become a real threat in the featherweight division.
