Mattia Perin faces a spell on the sidelines after Juventus confirmed the goalkeeper has undergone surgery.

Perin dislocated his shoulder during a training session on Sunday and needed an operation on the injury.

The Italy international, signed last year from Genoa after Gianluigi Buffon joined Paris Saint-Germain, has played a back-up role this term.

Perin started nine Serie A games this season but is unlikely to return to action for a lengthy period.

"The operation was carried out by Professor A. Castagna, assisted by medical director Dr Claudio Rigo, at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome," a Juve statement read.

"Recovery will begin immediately."

Juve will also be without Sami Khedira for the rest of the season as the midfielder is set to undergo knee surgery to resolve longstanding pain issues.

Massimiliano Allegri's side will be crowned champions if they avoid defeat at home to Fiorentina on Saturday, collecting what will be Juve's eighth Serie A title in a row.
