Astro has obtained the broadcasting rights for the 2020 K League 1 season, which begins on May 8.

The South Korean first division, which was originally scheduled to take place on February 29, was postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

With the situation in the country showing improvement, last month the Korean Professional Football Union announced the league's return, albeit with a number of strict measures such as playing behind closed doors and no pre-match handshakes.

"As the home of sports in Malaysia, we understand that sports fans have been deprived of live sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected the whole world.

"We are happy to bring you K League 1 action in the comfort of your home as well as at your fingertips via Astro GO, and we hope Malaysians will enjoy our live coverage," said Lee Choong Khay, Astro's Chief of Sports.

Astro will show selected K League 1 matches, live on Astro Supersport (CH811 HD/CH831) and Astro GO, including the season opener between defending champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and Korean FA Cup holders Suwon Samsung Bluewings, whom Malaysian fans should recognise as one of Johor Darul Ta'zim's (JDT) group rivals in the 2020 AFC Champions League (ACL) campaign.
