Tim Hardaway Jr. is like all NBA players with a competitive streak — he wants to make the playoffs.

The Knicks are sitting at 21-25 before Sunday's game against the Lakers, which means they are just outside the cusp of making the playoffs.

With a couple months to go before it really gets down to the wire, Hardaway says the Knicks have what it takes to make it.

"We’re not off by a long shot at all. In my eyes, I want to make the playoffs," Hardaway said, via the New York Post. "I know my teammates want to make the playoffs. We are developing as a ballclub. We are young. At the same time, we feel even though we’re a young group of guys we still have that heart and passion to go out there and win ballgames together to get back in that playoff position.”

The last time the Knicks made the playoffs was in 2013, when they made it to the second round. In the past 15 seasons, New York has only made it to the post season four times.

At the moment, the Knicks are in 10th place in the East.

“We’re on the outside looking in. Hopefully we’ll get closer going into the All-Star break,’’ Hardaway said. “I feel like with our group, we have that fire and that desire and in our heart is to make the playoffs one hundred percent. If we don’t make the playoffs we’re going to home in April upset. At the same time we know that we gave our all. But we’re trying to make the playoffs, point blank.”
