One of the WNBA's biggest names has suffered a serious injury.

Storm forward Breanna Stewart appeared to land on the foot of Mercury center Brittney Griner during a EuroLeague game on Sunday. Stewart is said to have torn her right Achilles, according to a report from WNBAinsidr.

Stewart, just 24, is already one of the most accomplished players in basketball. The UConn product won four national championships in college and was named the WNBA's regular season MVP and WNBA Finals MVP last season.

Although the two-time All-Star is a generational talent, she plays for the Russian club Dynamo Kursk in the offseason. Many WNBA players players elect to play overseas to make ends meet, so they don't really get much of a break.

Stewart has laced up to play overseas after every season since she was named the WNBA's Rookie of the Year in 2016.

"The WNBA offseason, it's not really an offseason because you're playing overseas, but any time that I have to improve and get better, I will," Stewart told ESPN ahead of her first overseas stint in 2016.

Now it's come back to bite her.

If Stewart has indeed torn her Achilles, the WNBA will be dealt a huge blow. The incident could bring attention to the the salary disparity between the league and the NBA, which forces plenty of WNBA players to play year-round.

This injury will spark serious discussion about that disparity.

Stewart averaged 22 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per game in 2018.
