The Spurs and veteran center Pau Gasol have agreed to a contract buyout, and he is planning to sign with the BucksESPN reports.

Gasol would be eligible for the playoffs with the Bucks if he were to sign Friday, who boast the best record in the NBA. Friday is the last day for released players to be eligible to sign with playoff teams.

A six-time All-Star, the 38-year-old veteran has dealt with a stress fracture in his foot this season. He's made only six starts, playing in 27 of the Spurs' 61 games.

Yet the 7-0 Spaniard is still a force inside and can step outside and knock down the 3. He's averaging a career-high 13.9 rebounds per 36 minutes this season, although his shooting percentages last year and again this season have set career lows. He's averaging 4.2 points and 4.7 rebounds in 12.2 minutes per game.

Gasol has averaged 17.1 points and 9.2 rebounds in his 17 seasons.

The New York Times reported earlier Friday the Bucks were eyeing former Clippers center Marcin Gortat, so signing Gasol would seem to fill that need.
