DeAndre Jordan is considering opting into the final year of his contract with the Clippers. But, if he does, he still may not be returning to Los Angeles.
The 29-year-old center may pick up his $24.1 million player option for 2018-19 in an effort to facilitate a trade, according to a report from The New York Times.
The Mavericks, among others, would be interested in dealing for Jordan, according the report, which cites unidentified league sources.

Jordan, who has spent all 10 of his NBA seasons with the Clippers, averaged 12 points and 15.2 rebounds per game in 2017-18.
Jordan verbally agreed to a max contract with Dallas as a free agent in 2015 before he backed out of the deal and re-signed with Los Angeles.
Dallas trading for Jordan this offseason is considered a “long shot,” according to the report.

The Mavericks have also reportedly expressed interest in big men DeMarcus Cousins or Julius Randle.
