Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are leading the movement to bring Carmelo Anthony to Brooklyn.

The Nets superstars are rumored to be "pushing" for the team they joined in July to sign the 35-year-old wing, who hasn't played in an NBA game since November, one source told The Athletic. Another source said Anthony has already had an informal workout and been observed by Brooklyn's general manager Sean Marks and coach Kenny Atkinson this summer.

But it appears they're hesitant to take the risk right now.

Anthony signed a one-year deal with Houston last year but left the Rockets 10 games into 2018-19 after failing to fit into their system. He was then traded to the Bulls before being released in February and has been a free agent ever since.

The 10-time All-Star is reportedly scheduled to scrimmage with the Knicks — who he spent six seasons with — on Thursday. But he's still awaiting a contract offer.

The word on Anthony has been that he is unwilling to take a back seat and come off the bench as a reserve scorer, but he denies this is the case.

"Am I willing to accept a certain role on a basketball team? Yes," Anthony said on ESPN's "First Take"  earlier this month.

Anthony tallied 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game during his short stint with the Rockets and has career averages of 24 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest. He's confident he can still be a valuable contributor on an NBA team.

"I love the game too much to be away from it. I just love the game," Anthony said. "I do everything. I'm training young guys, I'm training myself, like I'm in it. Now I've got a new life about me."

Anthony has also been linked to the Lakers, Clippers and 76ers this summer.
