The Knicks reportedly want to make moves to clear up salary space for the pending free agency season.
New York has made leading scorer Tim Hardaway available in a trade, according to a report from The New York Times, which cites unidentified league sources.
Trading Hardaway, 26, would help shed salary for the 2019 free agency season, according to the report.
Hardaway will make $18.2 million this season and has a $19 million player option for 2019-20.
The Knicks have long been rumored to be targeting Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in free agency next year, but may not quite have the cap space to do it if they hold onto Hardaway.
New York is also rumored to be seeking a trade partner for guard Courtney Lee, who is due $12.8 million next season in the final year of his contract.
The team also is trying to trade Enes Kanter, but getting his money off the books would not help them next year as he is a free agent after the season anyway.
According to the Times, the Knicks may buy out Kanter's contract to allow him to sign with another team.
If they do that, he would have to be a free agent by March 1 to be eligible to play for a playoff team.
