Alvin Gentry was reserved about the Anthony Davis situation during the regular season, but won't stay quiet now that it's over.
While speaking to reporters after New Orleans' 112-103 loss to the Warriors on Tuesday, the Pelicans coach was asked if he thought Davis was mischaracterized at all after requesting a trade earlier this year.
"I think he’s a great kid. I think he’s a very good kid. I think he’s a solid guy," Gentry began, via The Times-Picayune.
"I think he got some bad advice, if you want me to just tell the truth. I’ll leave it at that. There’s nothing wrong with AD. He’s a good, solid guy with good character. That’s the way I feel."
Davis, who showed up to Tuesday's regular-season finale wearing a "That's all Folks" shirt, ended his season on the bench as he missed his seventh consecutive game because of lower back spasms.
The six-time All-Star had been limited to just 56 games this season due to various injuries and his trade request in January. However, the team declined to deal him and he has been on minutes restriction ever since.
